Mixed Lentil Crepe/ Daal Chila

Challenge with being vegetarian is to include enough amount of protein in your diet. Hence, there is great dependence on lentils as soups, gravies, snacks and even as crepes. Mixed lentil crepe is a very tasty, protein rich dish that can be served at any time of the day, though a little preparation is required.

Mixed lentil crepe

  • 1/2 cup Chana daal (split and skinned Bengal gram)
  • 1/2 cup Urad daal (split and skinned black gram)
  • 1/2 cup Moong daal ( split and skinned green gram)
  • 1/2 inch piece of ginger
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala powder
  • salt to taste
  • oil as per needed.
  1. Wash and soak all the three lentils for at least 4 hours.
  2. Grind lentils along with ginger and chilies using little water into a not too smooth paste.
  3. Add salt and garam masala to it. Mix well.
  4. Heat a flat griddle/tawa. Grease it.
  5. When its hot enough, reduce the heat to minimum.
  6. Now pour approximately 1 1/2 ladles of batter in the center, and spread it outwards using the back side of the ladle as shown in picture.

  7. Now increase the heat to maximum and drizzle few drop of oil on it.  Let it cook until it starts to appear golden at few places.
  8. Now carefully flip it and cook it on high for 1-2 mins.
  9. Serve hot with your choice of dip.
